Food Network needs a revamp

I have always appreciated watching and learning new ways to cook and make healthy dishes in the kitchen. What I’ve noticed over the years is a very disturbing change is taking place on this channel and it appears to me there is no light making an improvement. What seems to be taking place on this network is disappearance of great cooking and it is quite disturbing.

I was actually enjoying how I could take notes, watch, and learn from various shows such as Unwrapped, Iron Chef, and even Barefoot Contessa and The Pioneer Woman as those recipes can be achieved from an easy affordable grocery list. What this network has turned to now is nothing more than contest shows that seem to be over rated and nothing like what the Food Network was originally about. What is driving me batty is this constant programming urge to show re-runs throughout the day on Friday and Sunday not just for an hour or two – all day! I am finding it very hard to sit and listen to someone who sits around a high kitchen table and talks down to me like I’m a child and don’t know how to boil water. This is getting very disturbing especially from persons who I once did appreciate and have fun watching while they were cooking. It is almost as if their ego has gone a little too far north and it is now coming out into the open, literally.

What happen to the originality of this channel when Chef Mario or Chef Emeril both had a show and were doing fabulous work showing how to cook dishes step by step? Is not that what the Food Network was originally created for? Now this network has turned into a frequent programming of Guy Fieri showing or the next food star. This raises the final question now that the vice president has left this network who step forward within and make some damage control changes on behalf of the viewers and start to pay homage to cooking for what it is, a skill and talent of art.

Twitter stock dropped very low first quarter

Courtesy of iconbugThe first quarter of Twitter stock has been a severe shock to investors with a 12% decrease according to Wall Street and many are now asking questions what is coming about next quarter with this social media. What investors fail to realize is the fact being this social media giant is nothing like the Facebook nor will it ever take on the factors it has been using since coming about. Twitter is known for the simple and short user friendly capability and the great thing is something of that nature will always be there because users have found it to be a very large liking. The honesty of women over 40

I have gotten this from a good friend of mind and wanted to share it on my philosophy blog as I absolutely adore Andy Rooney and his look upon life. Enjoy….

The honesty of a woman over 40 by Andy Rooney

I have found this to be true. Some men just really don’t value the gift they have/had.

Andy Rooney's thoughts on women over forty, Do you agree with him?:

As I grow in age, I value women who are over forty most of all. Here are just a few reasons why: A woman over forty will never wake you in the middle of the night to ask, “What are you thinking?” She doesn’t care what you think.

If a woman over forty doesn’t want to watch the game, she doesn’t sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And, it’s usually something more interesting.

A woman over forty knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age of forty give a hoot what you might think about her or what she’s doing.

Women over forty are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won’t hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.

Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it’s like to be unappreciated.

A woman over forty has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best friend because she doesn’t trust the guy with other women. Women over forty couldn’t care less if you’re attracted to her friends because she knows her friends won’t betray her.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over forty. They always know.

A woman over forty looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not true of younger women. Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over forty is far sexier than her younger counterpart.

Older women are forthright and honest. They’ll tell you right off if you are a jerk, if you are acting like one! You don’t ever have to wonder where you stand with her.

Yes, we praise women over forty for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it’s not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed hot woman of forty-plus, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some twenty-two-year-old waitress.

Ladies, I apologize.

For all those men who say, “Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free,” here’s an update for you. Now 80 percent of women are against marriage, why? Because women realize it’s not worth buying an entire pig, just to get a little sausage.

Wanting to see the Son of God movie

I got to see the entire hour of Sean Hannity tonight and his interview of the two producers of the up and coming film Son of God. Throughout the interview and even while I am writing this short blog piece I can sense a loving presence of warmth. The clip which I found so moving was when two fish turned into a full basket it made my entire body full of warmth watching as words were spoken to the crowd. I could sense the love and warmth throughout the entire interview discussion which was a beautiful feeling. I look forward to seeing this wonderfully done movie when it comes into my area.

Facebook users don’t have privacy but CEO bought his

Quite interesting how Facebook users are now going to be faced with the “social” changes that are being placed upon them all because Facebook has this urgency to make every member that uses Facebook and types upon it feel the social life. So in other words, you type something, share something, regardless of whatever it is that is done on your news feed it’s made public all because of how Facebook has set their code but get this, Mark Zuckerberg just had to have his privacy so he spent a pretty penny and bought the surrounding property to ensure no one would see what he was up to. Facebook doesn’t feel members should have the right to be private with one another yet there should be a double standard. Rather interesting don’t you think?

How to create business sales using Facebook Part 2

Originally published: Examiner.com Omaha business section, 12/25/2012

After your Facebook page has been created, it is the time to consider exactly what products and information should appear on the page for readers who visit. For example, a web designer may want to place a screen shot of his or her latest creation for a client recently completed. Another idea that can be used is a link to that website so it can be visited. Along with showing examples, it is quite beneficial to include sales and monthly specials for new products or services being offered.

A great opportunity local business owners can consider is using two options Facebook provides; Create Event and Promotion. The Create Event link is a fabulous way to announce an opening or a special event for the local community. The Promotion link is another great option that can assist further marketing a new monthly sale.

There are many users on the social media Facebook today so that is a great area for small business owners to place sales on so everyone is aware of the latest products and services taking place within the store. How can this be done? Quite easily as Facebook allows each user to create a page and update news and information that is taking place.

Should a small business want to become involved with Facebook Step 1 is to sign up with the necessary secured information to create their account first. Step 2 is to click on More at the bottom right, below Facebook copyright then there will appear a listing. Within that list is the Create A Page option, choose that option.

Step 3 is to create your page; a local business, a company, or brand.  A drop box appears for three page options so the creation will be easy. When the end user has chosen the settings then click on the box ‘Get Started’. Part 2 will discuss how to promote your sales on Facebook.

How to market with Twitter

Original publication: Examiner.com Omaha business, 1/30/2013
Many writers, businesses, and advertisers could benefit the use of Twitter as a market tool simply because it is a specific to their consumer base as well as the service or product being sold at the time. More importantly, there are specific things that can be done when using Twitter to get the attention from readers and viewers of the social media market as by taking these extra steps will help build and enhance the posting.

For example, did you know when someone wishes to build attention to a post there is something called a hash tag that can build more readers and bring attention to what is being posted. A great example can be seen in the Twitter advertising example below.

Check out Gem Diesel website for #jobs as they provide #CDL-training great benefits and pay!  Visit the website today – http://tinyurl.oz.by

Word value is more important than word amount when making a post on Twitter. The better the
post the more readers will follow who wrote it. Another key to posting on Twitter is giving the needed data to find more news. For example, it does not always matter what type of advertisement is being posted but what will help most is when Twitter social media readers sees a website address they can click on to visit. To a reader when having a URL it is like a gatekeeper opening the doors to opportunity. A helpful item that is free for shortening website addresses is Tiny URL. This item can be found online and it is very easy to use as it will allow the user to enter the website then it will provide a shrunken address specifically made using an encrypted code which will show something similar to what is in the above post.

Another item many Twitter posts can include and actually build a reader following with is something called hash tags. What is a hash tag; a hash tag is actually given to a post, and these type tags can actually build trends should there be a continuing visit or search by readers of the specific hash tag. For example, in the above balloon it shows the hash tag #jobs used in the article. This does two things, it builds a hash tag for jobs based on how it is written, and it expresses Gem Diesel is hiring. When a Twitter reader searches the hash tag #jobs the above post will appear showing everything in its entirety.  This will also occur should the Twitter reader do a search for the hash tag #CDL-training because that particular item was also included in the advertisement.

Twitter postings allow the user an ability to advertise and build followers as well as readers because of how content and hash tags are written. That is the importance of advertising in social media and the benefit of using Twitter.
